This modern system is a web-based, collaborative environment with eight modules currently implemented: Proposals, Awards, Human Subjects, Conflicts of Interest, Agreements, External Entities, SubAwards, and Technology Transfer. There are three potential forthcoming modules: Post Award Management, IACUC, and IBC (Environmental Safety).
OSPREY SYSTEM DOWNTIME
Please be advised that OSPREY, UNCW’s grant/proposal submission platform, will be unavailable from 4 p.m. on Friday, June 20 until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, so upgrades can be completed.
If you have any deadlines during this period, please ensure all necessary submissions are completed before the downtime begins. Please work with SPARC (sparc@uncw.edu) or your assigned representative to ensure all deadlines are met.
During the upgrade, the Electronic Research Administration Office will be unavailable, and all non-upgrade related functions will be paused. For assistance or to report any issues, please submit a ticket via the OSPREY Support Ticket Submission Portal.
A communication will be shared once the system is available for use. Please do not attempt to access the system prior to this communication. Any potential activity will hinder the testing process. If repairs are needed in the system, we cannot guarantee that any progress or submissions will be saved or function properly.

NEW FEATURE
We're excited to introduce a new tool on the OSPREY homepage – the Fringe Rate Estimator Widget! This widget is designed to help researchers quickly estimate fringe rates for budgeting purposes during the early stages of proposal development. This new feature allows users to:
- Get a quick estimate of fringe rates for various personnel types
- Improve preliminary budget planning for sponsored projects
- Save time when drafting proposals
Please Note: This tool is for estimation purposes only and may not be 100% accurate. The final fringe rate should always be calculated using the OSPREY Proposal Development System, which ensures precision and compliance with institutional guidelines.

An OSPREY specific SharePoint site is under construction and will be located in mySeaport under the Employee Essentials tab. This will act as a central hub for all OSPREY related information, including tutorials of all modules, processes, points of contacts, and updates.
