Earn Your Frequent Flyer Status

Our Frequent Flyers Program formally recognizes students who demonstrate a sustained commitment to community engagement opportunities. Throughout the academic year, students have the opportunity to earn their Bronze, Silver and Gold status by completing the requirements outlined below. 

Requirements

Work your way from Bronze to Gold as you build your service experience throughout the year. Each tier recognizes your continued commitment with new milestones and rewards along the way. Review the requirements below to see what it takes to earn each status.

Bronze Tier

To earn Bronze Tier status, students must: 

Participate in at least three (3) service projects and ten (10) service hours.
Complete the Bronze Tier submission form and written reflection on Engage UNCW (use the "Login via UNCW" or SSO to sign in).

Students who earn their Bronze Tier status will receive a Seahawks that Serve t-shirt and a certificate indicating their completion of the tier.

Silver Tier

To earn Silver Tier status, students must have first earned the Bronze Tier and then:

Participate in three (3) additional service projects and ten (10) additional service hours, for a total of six (6) service projects and twenty (20) service hours.
Complete the Silver Tier submission form and written reflection on Engage UNCW (use the "Login via UNCW" or SSO to sign in).

Students who earn their Silver Tier status will receive a Seahawks that Serve water bottle, a Frequent Flyers volunteer button and a certificate indicating their completion of the tier.

Gold Tier

To earn Gold Tier status, students must have first earned the Silver Tier and then:

Participate in three (3) additional service projects and ten (10) additional service hours, for a total of nine (9) service projects and thirty (30) service hours.
Complete the Gold Tier submission form and written reflection on Engage UNCW (use the "Login via UNCW" or SSO to sign in).

Students who earn Gold Tier status will receive a Seahawks that Serve fanny pack; priority registration for Immersive Service trips; an opportunity to be a guest on our Seahawks that Serve Podcast; and a certificate indicating their completion of the tier.

FAQs

Can I submit service hours that were not completed in Wilmington? 

Yes! We recognize service to the community wherever that community may be! For the service hours to count toward your Frequent Flyers certification, they must be completed while you are a student.

How do I verify my service hours?

We use Engage UNCW (aka GivePulse) to verify volunteer participation. Review the Frequently Asked Questions on the Student Community Volunteer Opportunities page for details.

What if I participated in a service opportunity that was not listed on Engage UNCW?

Service opportunities not listed in GivePulse can still count toward your Frequent Flyer status; however, you must still use GivePulse to verify your service. Review the Frequently Asked Questions on the Student Community Volunteer Opportunities page for details.

If I already completed the required service hours, can I skip the Bronze Tier? 

No. You must complete the reflection for each tier before you can move up to the next certification. That said, if you have already completed the necessary service hours for the higher tier, you may submit multiple tiers at a time!

Is there a way to meet/connect with fellow Frequent Flyers?

Yes! As a Frequent Flyer you will be invited to regular opportunities to connect with your fellow Frequent Flyers.
