Creating Opportunities for All
The Inclusive Futures Program certificate was developed through a partnership with Student Affairs and the Watson College of Education to provide meaningful academic and campus experiences for students seeking an inclusive pathway to higher education. The program received approval in June 2025 and admitted its first official cohort of five students for the 2024–2025 academic year.
Students in this inaugural cohort participated in Seahawk Preview Day, First-Year Orientation, and a program-specific camp designed to build confidence and connection.
Through person-centered planning, each student identified individualized goals in academics, career development, independent living, self-determination, and campus engagement, laying out the foundation for success in college and beyond.
Inclusive Futures in Action
In 2024–2025, the Inclusive Futures Program advanced outreach efforts across campus and within the community to build awareness and support. On campus, program leaders met with college deans, leadership teams, and faculty to support academic alignment and ensure a smooth experience for Inclusive Futures students.
To further strengthen institutional readiness, the program developed targeted faculty training for instructors teaching Inclusive Futures students. Collaborations also extended to key campus partners including Admissions, Housing and Residence Life, Campus Life, Campus Recreation, and the Student Health Center to establish resources and support systems.
A significant milestone occurred in Spring 2025 with the enrollment of a pilot student ahead of the official cohort launch. The student enrolled in two courses and participated in student life, including involvement in the Best Buddies club, working out at the Pat Leonard Recreation Center, and attending campus events—demonstrating meaningful inclusion across academic and co-curricular environments.
In celebration of Inclusive Postsecondary Education (IPSE) Day 2025, student employees and peer mentors interviewed Seahawks about their perspectives on inclusion. These videos were shared on social media platforms and featured campus leadership such as Chancellor Volety, Vice Chancellor Reed Davis, and Provost Winebrake who joined the campus community in recognizing the importance of inclusive access and belonging.
